Late on a Fall afternoon, while heading West on High St., the sunlight was casting long shadows across a retention pond generating a glow that prompted me to park my car and enjoy the light-filled scene. As I did, I became aware of various aesthetic elements: organic and man-made components, spatial ambiguities and layered reflections. It caused me to change my itinerary that day, and has many days since then, inspiring this body of work. Every step creating these compositions has been gratifying. The charcoal drawings are a rhythmic tangle of calligraphic and geometric line, the paintings grow more spatially ambiguous as they evolve, the real becomes increasingly surreal.
The cycle of regeneration within the pond ripples with challenges and promises renewal.
