My photographs are taken from ongoing projects focused on telling a story: the personalities of animals including those rescued by sanctuaries, endangered old-growth forests, former slave dwellings still standing , and Home/land, a story about the world in rural central Pennsylvania where I grew up and now live. The slow method of film photography and darkroom printing suits my style of storytelling. I combine techniques I've used over the past twenty five years, starting with classic silver black and white printing and including aspects of the now-extinct dye transfer technique which I learned as a young printer, along with handpainting with sepia washes.
