The first seeds of inspiration for my ceramic art were sewn during childhood days of playing in the woods and observing small details of plants and animals on my family’s farm. Trained as a functional potter, I integrate animal figures into wheel thrown vessels, creating finished forms that display precious qualities. Certain aesthetic decisions in my current body of work are influenced by traveling in Tibetan China and Nepal. Where temples and domestic spaces were decorated with animal imagery and geometric patterns. In my own work, I seek to encourage observations of beauty and feelings of introspection, sculpting my animals as the storytellers.
