Community at An Occasion for the Arts

An Occasion for the Arts is very excited to announce that we are continuing our collaboration with Steve Prince, Director of Engagement & Distinguished Artist In Residence, Muscarelle Museum of Art.

Steve engages the greater community with an interactive art project at the Festival that highlights how the individual is part of the whole, and how creativity can be a shared experience that can lead to an inclusive community.

This year Steve will bring The Communal Quilt Project to AOFTA. This multi-year project brings together members of our broad community  to share their story using the medium of a quilt. Participants will create their own quilt square with fabric, scissors, and glue to share their story in the context of community.

These squares will be stitched together and displayed on DoG Street as an vision exemplifying who we are together. All are welcome and no quilting or art experience is necessary.
