Artist Statement

My work is rooted in the quiet, often overlooked moments of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. I’m drawn to the way something ordinary can feel sacred when you truly stop and look. Using line, ink and watercolor, I create intimate compositions that invite the viewer into that moment of stillness and presence. I’m especially interested in the relationship between observation and emotion—how a bird in flight or a pollinator at work can hold a sense of reverence, memory, or calm. My circular and portal-like compositions reflect that idea of passage and connection, suggesting that these natural moments are both fleeting and enduring. At its core, my work is about slowing down, paying attention, and finding meaning in the living landscape around us.
