Kelly Dawson

Artist Statement

Kelly Dawson is a professional artist who creates oil and watercolor paintings of urban landscapes, architecture and landmarks. She paints because it gives her agency to believe that life is meaningful. She is inspired by history and our connection to places in time, and to each other. She paints both in studio and on site, usually over a series of site visits. She enjoys plein air painting because it provides more information such as detail, color, feeling the sense of a place, the weather, the people around and the atmosphere of the environment. She holds a Bachelors degree in History. She is a member of the Plein Air Painters Chicago, Woman Made Gallery and Oil Painters of America.
