I go beyond the click…
While my process begins with the camera, I don’t see the image as finished.
I work at recreating mood and a felt experience, not just a description of the scene. Each image is treated the way memory treats the experience. Edges soften, colors shift toward what we felt rather than what a sensor recorded. Small details recede so the emotional center of the moment can come forward.
That in-between space — the overlap between documentary and painterly — is where my work lives, and where many viewers tell me they recognize their own memories of similar places and times.
