When I was 15, my aunt gave me a foldout from a National Geographic magazine titled Star Birth in the Orion Nebula, featuring early images from the Hubble Space Telescope of the Orion Nebula. A week later, she was tragically killed by a drunk driver, and the nebula—visible even to the naked eye—became a quiet memorial to her.
For 25 years I looked up at the night sky, but it wasn’t until 2019 that I discovered astrophotography and realized people were capturing breathtaking deep-space images from their own backyards.
On March 12, 2020, with only a Nikon D3200 and a tripod, I photographed the Orion Constellation. That night sparked a passion that still drives me to spend clear evenings capturing and processing the beauty of our galaxy.
